Spring is on its way to be well and truly sprung and the offering here at Mr. Fierze is heating up with upcoming new arrivals - just in time for the season of racing events, fashion on the fields and weddings. We talk to style consultant Noal Gurung about all things Spring and the upcoming trends to be spotted in this season.
1. AS WE APPROACH SPRING, HOW SHOULD GENTS BEGIN PREPPING?
Okay, so two sets here – weddings & the racing season. Let’s start with weddings. We are quite booked out for wedding hires, booking all the way in advance towards the end of the year. We have met with grooms and their groomsmen from February working through their visual inspiration to get the right looks for their big day. With weddings, it’s all about the big picture of what the theme is, what colours best resonate with the theme and how the grooms and his groomsmen’s attire will work alongside the bride and her bridesmaids.
This is why our initial appointment is always with the groom and his bride first in order to get a full idea of the wedding and what they visualise. It’s all about planning the looks as part of a bigger picture. The groom then leaves it us, the style consultants, to ensure that the suit complements your form. No one wants to be caught at the altar with pants billowing in the wind and hem hanging over shoes and sleeves covering your wrist.
For the races on the other hand, we always make a shift towards linen and wool with fabrics lighter in colour. It’s all about coming out of the winter and into brighter, fresher seasons. If you are like us and need to attend the races and Spring events, get chatting with your style consultant early and have a chat about what tones and styles to rock this season. That’s the luxurious benefit of Mr. Fierze - you can wear anything because there’s no commitment of purchasing and having to wear it again.
2. WHAT COLOUR TRENDS WILL WE SEE THAT GENTS NEED TO BE AWARE OF?
With Spring and Summer, you can never go wrong with pastels or vibrant colours. As I mentioned before, it’s all about the celebration of coming out of the colder seasons and tones and into the bright, fresh and vibrant garments. The most popular colour to wear this Spring season in my opinion seems to be a push towards cream, beige and off-white tones - paired with a crisp white shirt, coloured accents for accessories and camel loafers.
3. WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR FAVOURITE GO TO BRANDS FOR SUITING AND WHY?
Personally, I love Dolce & Gabbana, Hugo Boss, Z Zegna and Dom Bagnato. A majority of these brands are stocked at Mr. Fierze. However, it’s important to note that when it comes to the creative designer selection for Mr. Fierze, we looks at a range of brands and their offerings. We only pick pieces that we know will fit well and resonate with our clients.
Our Dolce & Gabbana Red Silk DB Jacket for instance was selected as it was unique from existing suits but also has a double breasted feature that provided any client with a sleek and slim fit. Prior to final selection pieces, we looked at another D&G jacket in the same collection but wasn’t a great fit for brand. The focus of selection is never prioritised on the designer label. The consideration of fabric, fit, colour and texture determines whether or not it is a classic that will exceed beyond current trends.
4. WHEN LOOKING AT ACCESSORIES, WHAT SHOULD GENTS BE LOOKING FOR?
Accessories are the key to tying the whole look together, and more often than not, gents forget this and leave it as an afterthought. This is why you need a style consultant to assist you in piecing your outfit together. Looking at the whole suit as a blank canvas, I visualise the tie, cufflinks, bow tie, pocket square, watch, belt, tie bar, lapel pin and shoes all in my head then start to apply my visualisation it on a client until the outfit is complete. The goal in piecing numerous accessories together is to ensure the colour or texture accents of each item work harmoniously to bring a whole look together whilst still holding its own identity.
5. WHAT ARE SOME BRANDS MR. FIERZE STOCK FOR THE UPCOMING RACE SEASON?
We work with a range of designers such as Dom Bagnato, Gibson, Cambridge and Daniel Hechter for the race season, with aspirations to expand our lineage of offering. We are not going to be introducing new labels this Spring, however, we are expanding our stock for black tie and lounge attire offering. We now stock sizes right up to 60 for tuxedos and corporate suits.
6. ANY EXTRA COMMENTS?
I’ve learnt that every little detail matters when it comes to dressing men up. In the end of it all, a look comes down to the fit, the quality of the fabric and the construction of the suit. Many of our clientele visit the store only in pursuit of a black suit without any exploration of other ideas. I talk them through the fit, the accessories and the colours to consider and end up helping them above and beyond what we already stock. Here at Mr. Fierze, you receive a full styling service, we are here to help you and advise you on everything to pair your outfit with.
